On September 2023, the French international and Juventus player Paul Pogba was suspended from football for 4 years after testing positive for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), a banned substance that elevates testosterone levels. However, his ban was reduced to just 18 months following his appeal, in which he claimed that his use of the banned substance was unintentional and prescribed by a doctor. This means he is expected to return to the pitch in March 2025, according to the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport).
The French midfielder has repeatedly demonstrated that he is one of the most skillful players in football history and has been crucial for his country, especially during their 2018 World Cup victory, where he played a pivotal role in driving Les Bleus throughout the tournament. Pogba, known for his exceptional long shots, has scored many iconic and memorable goals for both club and country. All of this has made him a fan favorite, with supporters eagerly anticipating his return.
One important aspect to consider is his future from a club perspective, as the Juventus manager does not appear very enthusiastic about welcoming Pogba back after an 18-month absence. This could lead to the player leaving the Italian club on a free transfer, potentially making a return to a struggling Manchester United squad.
It will be interesting to see how Pogba’s future unfolds after he serves his sentence and which club he is most likely to join.
